David Smith is attending the fluid bed processing event on 16th May 2019, don’t miss it!

The Fluid Bed Processing course is taking place at Leeds University between the 15th – 17th May 2019 and is supported by iFormulate.

Fluidised beds are widely used in industry due to their characteristic fluid like properties of good mixing and heat transfer. Applications of fluid beds range from combustion in power stations, catalytic reactors to the engineering of particles via methods such as low density agglomeration and encapsulation.

This new course focuses on the use of fluid beds in the particle engineering area and covers:

  • The basic principles behind fluidisation
  • The important of particle properties
  • The impact of bed design on the structure and optimal operation of fluid beds, both batch and continuous

The course is grounded in practical experience gained across numerous industrial sectors by a range of speakers, from academia, equipment manufacturers and end users. The scientific principles of fluid bed operation will be reinforced by a number of practical demonstrations which show the theory in practice.

The course will cover…

  • Day 1 Fluidisation basics
  • Day 2 Industry case studies
  • Day 3 New developments and innovations

David J Smith is the founder and Director of DJS Process Consulting Ltd. He is a chartered engineer and a fellow of the institution of chemical engineers with over 30 years experience in the process manufacturing industry. His career began at Proctor & Gamble where he was heavily involved in new processes and product development, process design, commissioning, process optimisation and trouble shootings within a global environment as well as being named an inventor on 19 process patents. David then moved in to consultancy where he actively supports new product innovations, pilot plant installations, patent preparation through to the management of projects relating to new state of the art factories, currently in America and China.

David will be presenting on Thursday 16th May 2019 at 13:30pm. His presentation titled:

Operations: Start Up, Shut Down and Process Control
